The Local Authority is obliged to advertise and appoint members to the Independent Education Appeal Panel. These panel members will hear appeals from parents in relation to Admissions and Exclusion. Every 3 years the Local Authority must advertise for and appoint new members to the panel. Advertisements were circulated in March 2021 and a number of new members have volunteered their services. This report outlines the role of the panel members and seeks approval from the Lead Member for the approval of the new lay panel members.

That the Lead Member for Education, Children's Services and Public Engagement appoint the following members to the independent Education Appeal Panel - Leonard Rhys Evans, Linda Williams, Julie Parry, Jo Goodchild.

A decision is sought from the Lead Member that he approves the appointment of those persons named in Appendix 1 as new lay members to the Independent Education Appeal Panel, providing that these members shall receive training.
