NEW CHARGING POLICY FOR STREET NAMING AND NUMBERING

The Lead Member approves the introduction of charges for Street Naming and Numbering related services as set out in Appendix 1.  The Lead Member approves the updates to the Street Naming and Numbering Policy to reflect the introduction of charges and change in service structure (Appendix 2). The Lead Member confirms that the Well-being Impact Assessment (Appendix 3) has been read, understood and taken into account.

The proposal to introduce cost-recovery charges for Street Naming and Numbering related services was discussed and supported by CET in July 2024

Research and informal consultation has been undertaken to assess what other Local Authorities across Wales and England charge for and how much they charge.

 

The Business Systems Team have been involved in determining the proposed charges.

 

Finance colleagues have been engaged in overseeing the setting of the proposed charges to ensure that they reflect true cost-recovery and to support with the implementation of a payment process for customers.

 

The Legal Team were approached for guidance on whether the Council is legally able to introduce charges for Street Naming and Numbering related services. They advised that under the legislation adopted to carry out this function we could charge on a cost-recovery basis for services that are discretionary.
