Apologies for absence were submitted by Councillors Mabon ap Gwynfor, Joan Butterfield, Gareth Davies, Alan Hughes and Anton Sampson.

There were no declarations of interest.

RESOLVED – That, in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of business because it is likely that exempt information (as defined in Paragraphs 12 and 14 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A of the Act) would be disclosed.

To interview candidates and consider making an appointment for the post of Chief Executive. The number of candidates to be interviewed will be determined by a special appointments panel.

The Leader of the Council and HR officers reported on the recruitment process undertaken and gave details of the assessment process and criteria used by the Special Appointments Panel to ensure that only candidates who were potentially suitable for appointing would be invited to attend the Council meeting today.

The candidate gave a presentation to Council and responded to questions from the members. After the candidate had left the meeting members discussed the presentation and the responses to questions.

RESOLVED – that Graham Boase be appointed to the post of Chief Executive of Denbighshire County Council.
